WHY I DO THIS:I have always enjoyed hands-on work, and became an electrician by trade. I started working in building automation in 2005 and eventually made the move to Control Solutions in 2012.

WHY I DO THIS: My journey to working in the controls industry was definitely not a straight shot. I started working in the plumbing and HVAC industry, then relocated to Chicago where I began working in stock broking, and eventually returned to Grand Rapids to begin sales in HVAC service, finally landing at CSI. I’m glad I ended up and here and in sales because it gives me the opportunity to help people, which is my primary focus.

WHY I DO THIS: When I graduated from college with a degree in Electronic Engineering Technology, I was particularly interested in Automatic Temperature Control—leading me to this industry. Fortunately, there was a high demand for Electrical Engineers in the industry at the time. I enjoy working with people and creating solutions to technical challenges.

WHY I DO THIS: I do this simply because I love everything about my job. As a Service Manager, I’m able to work with people often, program and repair their building systems, collaborate with my co-workers in the office, and continue to develop established relationships and build new ones. At the end of the day, I’m able to make something work that someone else couldn’t, and that’s an awesome feeling.

WHY I DO THIS: Growing up on a farm, I’ve been a hands-on person for as long as I can remember. Knowing that I wanted to work in a hands-on industry, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in HVAC/R Engineering at Ferris State University and then spent 11 years at Cochrane Supply, where I became Regional Sales Leader. During my time at Cochrane, I built strong relationships with the team at Control Solutions. When the opportunity opened up at Control Solutions, I took it! I’m excited to be able to work with many of the same clients I’ve met at Cochrane in Service Sales.

WHY I DO THIS: I am new to the Building Automation industry, but as a 20-year IT veteran, it’s exciting to find a new challenge for taking this technology to the next level.
